Lisa Scott, MA, CCC-SLP

Presents: Beer and Bounced Checks

Join Lisa Scott as she presents Beer and Bounced Checks!  What do beer and bounced checks have to do with designing effective training?  Plenty, if your international employees don’t fit well into American culture.  Even if they have the credentials and experience, a lack of the right soft skills can keep them from effectively communicating their brilliance.  The qualities of a good leader and the “correct” way to make decisions look very different around the world.

Join me as we discuss how to adapt your training to improve cross-cultural communication, not only by increasing the language skills of international employees but also by increasing awareness of varying communication and feedback styles across cultures. Team performance will improve, productivity will increase, and your foreign-born employees will stay longer and engage more fully once you learn these strategies.

Speaker Bio: Communication breakdowns cost large corporations over $62 million per year and an average of $26,000 annually per worker in lost productivity. Lisa Scott can help stop those money leaks. As a nationally certified speech pathologist and an accent reduction specialist, Lisa has been helping people overcome communication barriers for over 25 years. She specializes in working with companies that have international employees to ensure that their cross-cultural teams communicate clearly, overcoming the barriers caused by both cultural differences and the accented speech of non-native speakers. One of the first in her field to embrace video chat for training, she has also written her own Accent Optimization program which has been used with clients worldwide. She loves the challenge of working with highly-skilled international professionals who want to develop excellent communication skills as well as with native speakers who want to work more effectively with their international co-workers. She looks forward to sharing some practical strategies with you to make your training an “international” success!

Networking and lunch will be available starting at 11:30am, and the program begins promptly at noon. Let us know of any dietary restrictions upon check-in at the registration desk.

Cancellation requests/refunds will be honored within 48 hours notice if paid in advance. Payment will be due for no-shows.
